“My soul is full of longing
for the secret of the sea,
and the heart of the great ocean
sends a thrilling pulse through me.”
― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I needed to be near the sea, so took off for Mystic CT last weekend with stops in Stonington and Niantic CT.  It is where I feel most at home.

Weather was frigid, the coldest day of the year, so I had the Mystic Seaport Museum practically to myself.  I immersed myself in maritime history, spent hours with the painting and photography and then time outside by the sea and ships.  Great day!  Later I caught the sunset in Stonington, getting lost as usual on its narrow one way streets which seem to have no rhyme or reason, except they lead to the sea.  The next morning on my way home I walked along the boardwalk in Niantic CT.  This town probably would look like Mystic except for the nuclear plant that one can see from the boardwalk.  Strange.

The Morgan.  She's a beauty!

Niantic CT - a frigid 7 degrees as I walked by the bay.  I felt invigorated!
