Final day in Maine

Ah, today is my last day by the sea.  I am savoring it and thank God the sun finally came out.  Yep, I had about 4 hours of brilliant sunshine.  Went to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in Bristol, Maine.  Fell in love with the rocks more than the lighthouse.  And, the sea stretching out in front of me and me being the only one there!
I am sometimes confused with my love of solitude because I love people too.  But, these past 5 days of aloneness have been wonderfully comforting.  Yet, I'm ready to go home.  And, I imagine I'll be surrounded by people for a good part of my weekend.
For now, I gaze out at the sea from my room and hold onto its magic for one more evening.  The clouds have rolled in once again, but it's ok.   The clouds hold their own fascination and I've photographed them lots the past few days.  That Joni Mitchell cloud song keeps going through my head..
Today I'll post some pictures of the rocks at Pemaquid.  Such great formations.  Supposedly, if you get there at the right time between tides, the waves crashing on the rocks are spectacular.  My timing was obviously off, but there was still much beauty there.

  1. Oh Pemaquid is amazing isn't it? You got some great photos of those rocks! I love that place! In summer it is over run with tourists. I bet it was nice and quiet!

  2. I loved it at Pemaquid! I can only imagine the insanity of summer. No thanks! I was thrilled to be the only one there with temperatures in the 50s and the sun shining. Perfect. Those rocks are amazing. I could spend more time photographing them. Next year..
